RiscPC Replacement Power Supplies
We can supply either refurbished 103 watt power supplies for the RiscPC or our own higher rated rebuilt power supplies with new internals in either 140 watt or 200 watt versions. These are usually supplied as exchange units but we can sometimes supply without exchange.
Important - If you wish us to send your new power supply and then return the old one once it's been fitted we will charge a deposit against the return of your old unit (see individual prices for the amount). When you return the old power supply in good physical condition within 30 days we will refund the deposit.
If you do not retun the old unit we will regard the transaction as a 'Sale'. If, for any reason, there is a delay in returning the old unit please contact us and we will usually be able to extend this period.
Note that 'in good condition' means that the case must not be dented or damaged, the leads and connectors must be complete and in good condition and the on/off switch must not be broken, so do pack it carefully. If there is damage we reserve the right to reduce the amout of deposit refunded accordingly.
Standard Acorn PSUs
Acorn 103 watt power supply suitable for RiscPC. These are overhauled and guaranteed. The price is £45 exchange plus £10 UK carriage, £19.50 carriage outside UK.
Important - You will be charged £18 UK deposit, £25 outside UK, against the return of your old power supply in good condition.
High rated power supplies
These use the standard Acorn casing but are completely rebuilt and fitted with new higher rated internals. They have a much higher output than the normal power supplies to cope with all the additional devices fitted to many RiscPCs, PC card, CR re-writer, additional hard drives, multiple podules, etc.
The picture shows an APDL power supply fitted in a RiscPC. Note that the old single fan is removed and replaced by two separate fans positioned to give better airflow distribution. The main fan is speed controlled to reduce noise. It is positioned to ensure that air is directed over the video circuitry, which was shielded by the RAM with the old single fan. This greatly improves stability if the video circuit is driven near to its limits as is often the case with large modern monitors. The smaller front fan is positioned to ensure cool air flows over the hard drive since modern 7,200 or 10,000 rpm. drives can generate much more heat than older 5.400 rpm. models and can get extremely hot. This can have a serious effect on both drive reliability and longevity.
Important - You will be charged a deposit against the return of your old power supply in good condition. In each case carriage is £10 UK, £19.50 outside UK.
